A Heartfelt Journey on World Menopause Day: My Experience on BBC Breakfast
The 18th of October this year held a significance that went beyond the usual calendar dates.
For me, it was World Menopause Day, a day filled with deep emotions, an extraordinary opportunity, and a chance to bring the silent struggles of menopause into the spotlight. On this remarkable day, I was privileged to be featured on BBC Breakfast alongside Sheetal, and the experience left me profoundly humbled.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who stood by me on this incredible journey. My family, friends, fellow advocates, and colleagues offered unwavering support, and their encouragement meant more to me than words can convey.
Being on national television discussing a subject as intimate and often shrouded in silence as menopause was both a personal and collective triumph.

One of the most touching moments of World Menopause Day for me was the opportunity to work closely with the remarkable team at John Lewis Reading.
They reached out to me, asking if I would lead two menopause workshops on World Menopause Day.
This gesture was more than just an event; it was a statement that we were all in this together, working to eradicate the stigma and uncertainty that surrounds menopause. To Jo and the entire team at John Lewis Reading, I extend my deepest gratitude for their dedication and passion in bringing about positive change.
We were thrilled by the great turnout, and it turned into a fantastic evening where we connected with individuals eager to learn and share their experiences.
What a week it has been! I’ve barely had time to think, and as I sit here with my coffee, I find myself reflecting on the whirlwind of events from the past week. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, from the nerves of being live on BBC Bristol, to recording a menopause piece for BBC Breakfast, to the heartfelt discussions and connections forged during the workshops.
The experience of being featured on BBC Breakfast and conducting the workshops at John Lewis Reading and Milton Keynes was a reminder of the incredible power of compassion and empathy. It highlighted the importance of speaking openly about menopause, not only for ourselves but for the generations of women who will follow. By breaking the silence, I love providing women with the support and resources they need to navigate this life stage with confidence, compassion, and a profound sense of dignity.
